The Institute invites applications from Indian Nationals who are exceptionally bright and motivated with an established record of independent high quality research and commitment to teaching for faculty positions in all disciplines of interest to the Institute in the following departments:
Architecture & Planning, Hydrology,Bio-Sciences & Bio-Technology, Department of Paper Technology,Chemical Engineering,Mathematics,Chemistry, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineeirng, Metallurgical & Material Engineering, Earth Sciences, Physics, Earthquake Engineering, Water Resources Development Training Centre, Electrical Engineering, Alternate Hydro Energy Centre, Electronics & Computer Engineering, Department of Management Studies, Humanities & Social Sciences, Centre for Continuing Education, Institute Instrumentation Centre, Institute Computer Centre.
Designation and pay scales are as follows :
- Professor (Rs. 18,400-500-22,400)
- Associate Professor (Rs.16,400-450-20,000)
- Assistant Professor (Rs.12,000-420-18,300)
- *Lecturer (Rs. 10,000-325-15,200)
* Lecturer is not a cadre position, appointments will be made on contract for a period not exceeding five years.
Qualifications & Experience :
- Professor: Ph.D. with first class or equivalent at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch with a very good academic record throughout and a minimum of 10 years experience of which at least 5 years should be at the level of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor.
- Associate Professor: Ph.D. with first class or equivalent at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch with a very good academic record throughout and a minimum of 8 years experience of which at least 3 years should be at the level of Assistant Professor.
- Assistant Professor: Ph.D. with first class or equivalent at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch with a very good academic record throughout and at least 3 years industrial/research/teaching experience.
- Lecturer: Ph.D. with first class or equivalent at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch with a very good academic record throughout.
An outstanding engineer/technologist working in industry and with established reputation, and who has made significant contribution to knowledge but not having a Ph.D. degree could also be considered for appointment to the post of Associate Professor/Professor on contract basis. Such appointment will be made only sparingly and in extremely deserving cases with the approval of Chairman, IIT Council/ Ministry of Human Resource Development.
